The cocktail the day on the day we had lunch at Taste was "Lemonjito," a twist on the classic Cuban mojito. It was made with Bacardi Limon, cointreau, mint and lemons instead of lime. It was refreshing and light - perfect for lunch!
The Maitre'D of Taste looked familiar to us. We quickly remembered that saw him on our Alaskan honeymoon cruise on board the NCL Pearl last May. We called him over and told him about our blog and gave him our card. Then we asked him what he recommended. He told us to order the Vietnamese Summer Rolls with Chili Lime Sauce. "The sauce is so good I could drink it with a straw," he said jokingly. The rolls were cool and crisp, and the sauce was sweet and spicy. The rice paper rolls were filled with lettuce, carrots and what we thought was rice noodles. The appetizer had a perfect balance and was not too heavy. We ordered it again for dinner another night.
We also ordered the Fried Calamari. We went a little overboard with the appetizers as you can see! Although they look like onion rings, they are not. They are even better than onion rings, although the onion rings we ordered in the Manhattan Room for dinner were suburb.
Mr. P ordered the Portobello Mushroom appetizer topped with Goat Cheese and Pine Nuts. It was delicious! Whether you like mushrooms or not, you will enjoy this satisfying appetizer. We thought it tasted like some stuffed mushrooms our foodie friends Steven and Maria made the first time they came over to our house for dinner. We will ask them for the recipe and put it up soon.
Mrs. P had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Tomato Jam and Multi-grain bun. We totally recommend it! We've never had tomato jam before. There's a first time for everything! It's like a chunky and sweet tomato paste. It was the perfect topping for this excellent sandwich. Plus, all the bread is freshly baked on board, so you know it has got to be good!
Mr. P had Fish and Chips. It was flaky and crunchy - the perfect combination for the perfect fried fish.
Now for the best part...dessert! We usually share one dessert when we go out to eat except when we are cruising! Life is too short to not have two desserts on vacation. We ordered the Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta and the Chocolate Mousse with Vanilla Bean and Lemon Whipped Cream. The panna cotta was to die for, as was the mousse. However, we didn't taste the lemon in the whipped cream. Both desserts were delicate and had a lovely texture. If we were forced to pick one, we would pick the panna cotta without a doubt!
